Baum: “We have to learn from the Bayern game”

First Team 22.11.2017, 13:35
Wipe the slate clean and look forward to the games ahead is the mindset after the 3-0 derby loss to Bayern Munich. The preparation for the home game against VfL Wolfsburg has been in full swing since the beginning of the week ahead of kick-off at 15:30 CET on Saturday 25th November. FCA head coach Manuel Baum spoke after training on Tuesday about... ... the loss to Bayern Munich: “You have to learn from every game, and we will do the same from the loss to Bayern. It’s very clear that we have a lot to work on when we play teams of their quality in the future. The first 30 minutes went well, which is not to be forgotten. We defended well, but we definitely could have done a lot better when we had possession ourselves. It was frustrating that they managed to score two against us on the counter. After they scored the third the game was essentially decided.” ... the home game against Wolfsburg “If you have a look at their squad, the quality they have is unbelievable. We’re playing at home though, and we’ve shown that we can put in some good performances on our own turf. We have to work on how we’re going to break them down, which we’re doing at the moment. It doesn’t matter if you win or lose three in a row - you can’t start looking at who’s around you in the table. We’re still pushing to achieve our goal, and that’s staying in the top flight. We’ve done well so far, so we obviously want to get something out of the game against Wolfsburg.” ... the reunion with Paul Verhaegh: “I imagine it’ll be a bit like catching up with a coach that you’ve known for a long time. Everyone is too focused on the game for that to be a real topic of conversation, however. Each player is concentrating on what they have to do. Paul was a massive figure here, a leader that also brought a lot to the community off the pitch. On the pitch, we’ve managed to replace him well with Raphael Framberger and Daniel Opare.”
