Darmstadt match reaction

First Team 25.02.2017, 22:30
Augsburg recorded an important 2-1 victory away at Darmstadt on matchday 22. Here are some thoughts on the game from those involved:Paul Verhaegh: "It wasn't a particularly good game, rather it was fight. It was important that we came here and got the three points, therefore, we're pleased we were able to do that. Darmstadt fought really hard and made it difficult for us. This victory is important for our morale." Raul Bobadilla: "We badly needed these three points and we're happy that we managed to get them. Now we have difficult games at home to Leipzig and away to Schalke, but we now have more self-belief going into those games." Halil Altintop: "We knew what was coming. Darmstadt beat Dortmund here two weeks ago. It was nice that we kept things solid at the back and came from behind. We're pleased with the three points, irrelevant of how we got them." Gojko Kacar: "This victory is incredibly important because the teams around us keep winning. We're looking forward, but we know that there's still a long way to go." Manuel Baum: "It certainly wasn't our best performance. We were solid at the back, but we made far too many mistakes in possession. We kept believing for 95 minutes that we could win the game. Going behind didn't throw us and you have to say that the team has real character." Torsten Frings: "We didn't reach the same level as in the last few weeks. After we took the lead we let the opposition back into the match through our own mistakes. We're aware that we face an uphill struggle, but we want to win as many games as possible."
