Another week of training on the menu for FCA

First Team 17.08.2017, 17:04
FC Augsburg began preparation for the upcoming match against Hamburger SV (Saturday 19th August, 15:30 CEST) on Wednesday. At the beginning of this week, FCA striker Alfred Finnbogason gave his views on… …the upcoming match against Hamburger SV: “It’s not a good feeling to be knocked out of the DFB Pokal. We know that our performance against Magdeburg wasn’t good enough, but the season starts afresh on Saturday. We know we have a good chance of picking up three points if we have the right mentality against HSV.” …competition in the team: “We have a big team and of course every player wants to start. Each squad member is putting in everything during the training sessions, but in the end it comes down to what the head coach decides – but it’s clearly a difficult job.” …the new distribution of roles within the team: “It means the other young players and myself assuming more responsibility. Halil Altintop and Paul Verhaegh are very experienced players who’ve left the team, but on the other hand there are lots of young players coming through. I personally want to take some more responsibility and support the younger players as much as I can. I feel like I already have a lot of experience which I can contribute.” …FCA’s ambitions this season: “When you see the quality of the promoted teams, like Hannover and Stuttgart, we know it’s going to be a tough relegation battle. We want to win games week in week out and then see what happens.” …his role as a father: “Everything’s changed, but it’s just brilliant. Becoming a father is the best feeling in the world. We’re really happy with Viktoria; we are cherishing her every day.”
