FC Augsburg and Markus Feulner have agreed a new contract which will mean the 35-year-old will play for FCA’s U23s in the Bayern Regionalliga as well as serve as the assistant coach of Augsburg’s U16s. He will assist Yannic Thiel and will gain his first experience of coaching.
“I decided to take this next step and am pleased that FCA have given me the opportunity to pass on my experience to our youngsters as well as still be able to play myself,” said Feulner. “I really profited during my career from tips from so-called experienced players. So now I am excited to be able to give something back as well as gain my first experience of coaching. I’m looking forward to this new challenge and an exciting period.”

“Markus Feulner will be a leading figure in our U23 team and will help and support our young team both on and off the pitch,” said Alexander Frankenberger. The head coach of FCA’s juniors said, “Our young players won’t just learn a lot by watching him, but will also profit from the positivity which he emits.”
“It’s great that we have secured Markus Feulner for both of these roles. He’s not just an identifiable figure for the guys in our U23s who will drive them on, but he’ll also drive FCA forward by helping to develop our junior players,” said sporting director Stefan Reuter.
Markus Feulner will immediately start preparing for the coming season in the Regionalliga under coach Christian Wörns and will be out on the training pitch with the U23s from today (Mon, 26/06/17).
